Our founder
How it started.
Mentoring became Daphne Gassett’s passion in her first year of college, after realizing how many children lack the exposure and opportunities that let them make informed choices about their future.
Our Executive Director, Daphne Gassett, MBA, MHS, is a Florida native with over 20 years of experience in counseling and facilitating youth programs.
After completing her undergraduate and graduate studies, Daphne relocated to the DMV area, where she served as a youth ministry leader focused on the transition from adolescence to adulthood. She was charged with fostering youth aged 9 to 18 through mentoring and character-building — helping them increase self-esteem, take part in community service and cultural activities, and gain life skills and social awareness. Her model for exposing youth to new experiences proved life-changing for many.
How it’s going
As a nonprofit, Strength to Elevate, Inc. has mobilized around mentoring services in Central Florida. Florida’s public education system has not adequately addressed the need to develop responsible, strong and compassionate leaders of tomorrow. That is the paradigm Strength to Elevate is working to change — better preparing and positioning minority children to be aware, active, and committed change-makers in their local and global communities.
